Why did I use finger guns on National television??

If you caught me recently on The Weather Channel being interviewed by the wonderful Jen Carfagno, you probably saw the (mostly) polished, composed version of me on screen. It was a great segment, especially considering it was a live broadcast and there's no going back and editing out the little rough parts — like say, finger guns for example! Haha! I'm so glad things went well on stage, but I'm also going to share with you a peek behind the scenes as well — because wow, things there were just as entertaining!

Before the cameras rolled, we were having such a blast touring the Weather Channel studio that we forgot one tiny little detail: they hadn’t mic’d me up yet! Cue the hero of the day — a very fast (and very kind!) staffer who realized the situation with about 60 seconds to spare. I’m talking full-on SPRINTING through the offices with a microphone, dodging cubicles. He got to me and clipped on that mic with EIGHT seconds to spare! Meanwhile, I was so amped up with adrenaline that my hands were literally shaking!

Honestly, he and every single person I met at the studio was so warm, welcoming, and just the best—Jamie, Greg, Lynette… I wish I could remember everyone’s names, but the seriously, whole team was amazing. They made me feel right at home.

And just when I thought the day couldn’t get any more surreal — guess who I got to meet? Drumroll please… STACEY ABRAMS! Yes, that Stacey Abrams—former Georgia House Representative, attorney, voting rights powerhouse, bestselling author, and, plot twist… a fan of mine! 😱

Apparently, Stacey Abrams is a huge space enthusiast. She even went to Space Camp as a kid and is now in the Space Camp Hall of Fame. Honestly, meeting her felt like the universe saying, “Yep, today is going to be unforgettable.”

I’ve got some fun photos to share from the day, so keep scrolling to see a few behind-the-scenes moments that didn’t make it to air. And to everyone at The Weather Channel: thank you for making it such a fun and memorable experience (mic drama and all)!
