I'm Over the Moon About the Moon!

There are very few moments in life where you stop and think this is it. This is the one for the history books. Well, friends… we just lived one of them.
Humanity went back to the Moon. And I am still over the moon! 😱
As you know, space is not just my job, it's my healthy obsession! So covering this mission as part of The Weather Channel team? That was massive! There's something almost surreal about being on the professional side of a moment this incredible — discussing launch conditions, tracking the mission, and knowing that somewhere up above all of us, history was being made in real time. Because it was such a big deal our coverage started a few days in advance of the launch. Here is a clip!
When the big day came the nerves were real. For me, but moreso for the astronauts! So much on the line. Like their lives! Something that cracked us up is our outfits! Blue and black was not discussed, I swear! Pure accident!
The thing that gave me all the chills: this was an American moment, yes. But this historic event was a HUMAN effort too — scientists, engineers, dreamers, and builders from countries all over the world came together to make it happen. That international spirit? That shared sense of we did this, together? To me, that made the whole thing feel even bigger than the moon itself.
I've grown up in awe of the Apollo missions — the iconic photos, the crackling radio transmissions, the sheer audacity of it all. And now a whole new generation gets to have their version of that moment. I keep thinking about the kids watching this today who are going to grow up and be the ones heading even further out into the solar system. And that thought makes me do a happy dance. No shame.
Funny story...it was a long broadcast and when we are on air for multiple hours, the stomachs start growling. Thankfully, when we cut to different on-air talent at other locations, we have a short break to eat quickly. Pizza was the real MVP. It's always cheese or veggie for me. I'm a vegetarian! OK, back to the mission...
Being part of the team covering this event was one of those "pinch me, is this my life?!" experiences. I'm so deeply grateful, incredibly proud, and just — wow.
The Moon has always felt like a friend to me. And right now? She feels like a very famous friend. 🌕✨
